Arthritis Center PAs provide ongoing care of patients with various forms of arthritis, osteoporosis, or chronic pain. Arthritis Center PAs are skilled and experienced in performing rheumatologic procedures such as aspiration of joint effusions (fluid in joints due to inflammation), injections of steroids or other essential medications into joints, or injections for tendonitis or bursitis. Arthritis Center PAs are also skilled in the use of ultrasound for needle guidance, increasing the accuracy and efficacy of these procedures and in the use of ultrasound for diagnostic purposes, sometimes obviating the need for radiographic procedures. In keeping with the Arthritis Center’s commitment to medical education, the job description of Arthritis Center PAs also includes acting as preceptors for students in physician assistant graduate training.
