The Reconstructive Surgery Division of the Arthritis Center of Connecticut is committed
to the treatment of injuries, arthritis, malfunction, and other conditions of the bones,
joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles, and peripheral nerves. When conservative measures are
not satisfactory, then the latest surgical techniques are available.
Our specialties include: general orthopaedics, total joint replacement, sports medicine,
hand surgery, independent medical examinations (IMEs), and second opinions.
Dr. Richard A. Matza is the chief operating surgeon at the Arthritis Center and has been in
practice in Waterbury, Connecticut since 1978. Dr. Matza is affiliated with all the major
hospitals in the greater Waterbury area including St. Mary’s Hospital, Waterbury Hospital,
and the Waterbury Surgical Center located at 1312 West Main Street, Suite 101, Waterbury, Ct.
